Could anyone advise on how to modify "The Perfect Popup" javascript so that it pops up centered in the desktop, instead of in the upper left hand corner? It would be very much appreciated :) Thanks!

Couldn't the technology used by Blinkx (which translates voice to text for search reasons) offer some help? The BBC is working with them - though not for those reasons.

Oh wait, this is the comments for the 'Captioning Sucks' article...so, my previous comment doesn't make sense!

That was in relation to your statement of why the CSS is turned-off on your site at the moment. There was only one place to make a comment...so I used it.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for posting this here. The event is the first of it's kind (that we know of) in the UK and I'm sure it's going to be really interesting.

@ Patrick - we've kept the price similar to other UK events. At AbilityNet we keep all overheads as low as possible and any profit goes into funding our charitable work.

As this is our first event we don't have a major sponsor that would enable us to lower the price further. I should add that the support from the speakers and BBC Backstage which has made the event possible.

Look forward to seeing you at the event.

Cheers,

Kath

after a bit of soul-searching (and wallet-shuffling), i decided to come along. watch out, though...there's VAT to be added on top of the price, so it worked out at around £176 in the end...

I think that accessibility is not only beneficial for those who are impaired in some way but is actually beneficial for us all. I mean, it's about creating a better world at the end of the day, isn't it? That's what excites me – the more we discover how to make the web more accessible, the more we actually move forward in bringing the web into everyone's life; therefore, creating business opportunities, communication breakthrough's etc. At the end of the day, the internet is showing us a brand new way of doing everything, making the idea of community important again : and, in my opinion, accessibility helps to create values that are beneficial for us all, and – not to be grand and idealistic about it – contributes towards making a better world.

Why should someone with a disability have any less right to access the content that’s available to me?
