What's New with Accessify?
Accessify has had a major re-haul. Some might argue 'if it's not broke, don't fix it', but there was the problem in a nutshell - several things were broken, but fixing it was a major problem because the site was previously built with ASP (a Microsoft server language running only on Windows) I had long sinced moved across to using Macs. In short, any change was difficult. So, the site re-launch was not just a 're-skinning' exercise - the whole lot was ripped apart and re-built from scratch in PHP and MySQL.
As part of the re-design and re-build some new features were introduced (or old ones were polished up a little), and these include:
- Improved preference options (to aid accessibility)
- Some new tools (Insta-Select, Yes-No-Now) *
admittedly they're developer tools rather than accessibility tools - New page styles
- Access keys that you can set
- Fresh, new content in the re-jigged features, articles and tutorials section
- Links and resources given a major update
What More Could We Do?
However, there's sure to be more that we could do - but what is it? Now that the site is in a much better state to allow for easy updates we have no qualms about asking for your suggestions for new content. Because now we're able to react and do something about it! So go on, let us know what you'd like to see.
What Could We Do Better?
And by we, I really mean me. I am no PHP expert, and I'm sure that some of the code on here is less than optimal. From time-to-time I'll probably want to refine parts of this site, and I may well put it out for others to comment/suggest on, open source-style. So, if things seem a little slow or you feel they could be better in any way (and you know how), please do get in touch.
