国防科技大学图书馆创建于1953年，前身为哈尔滨军事工程学院图书馆，1970年随学校主体南迁长沙，1999年原长沙炮兵学院、长沙工程兵学院、长沙政治学院并入国防科技大学后，三个学院的图书馆也先后并入国防科技大学图书馆。目前图书馆有三座馆舍，分别坐落在一、三、四号院区，建筑总面积47000多平方米，阅览座位4300多个，每周开放90小时。
